About Lake Osakis

Lake Osakis is a productive 6,463-acre fishing lake straddling the Todd and Douglas county line in central Minnesota. With a maximum depth of 50 feet and 20 miles of shoreline, the lake supports strong populations of walleye, northern pike, bass, and panfish. Lake Osakis has long been a favorite among Minnesota anglers for its consistent walleye fishing and the welcoming small-town atmosphere of its namesake community.

Walleye are the primary draw, with fish commonly caught trolling crankbaits or jigging along the lake's sand and gravel structure. Northern pike provide exciting action in the weedier areas, while largemouth bass hold in protected bays and along weed lines. Crappie, bluegill, and yellow perch round out the species list and provide excellent panfishing throughout the season.

The town of Osakis sits on the eastern shore and serves as the base for fishing operations on the lake. Boat launches, bait shops, and local resorts cater to visiting anglers.
