Diamond Lake is a 3,015-acre high-elevation gem sitting at 5,183 feet in the Cascade Range of Douglas County, just a short drive from the north entrance of Crater Lake National Park. With 8 miles of shoreline encircling its nearly perfectly round basin and depths reaching 52 feet, this mountain lake is framed by the dramatic peaks of Mt. Bailey and Mt. Rainbow Trout are the dominant gamefish at Diamond Lake, with ODFW maintaining a heavy stocking program that produces outstanding catch rates for anglers of all skill levels. The lake's nutrient-rich waters grow trout quickly, with fish averaging 12 to 16 inches and some reaching 20 inches or more by their second season. Tiger Trout, a sterile hybrid between Brown Trout and Brook Trout, have been introduced to help control invasive Tui Chub populations and provide an exciting bonus species with their distinctive vermiculated markings and aggressive feeding behavior.

Diamond Lake Resort and several Forest Service campgrounds provide boat launch facilities around the lake, with rentals available for those who do not bring their own watercraft. A paved bike path circles the entire lake, offering outstanding bank fishing access from virtually any point on the shoreline.
