About Burt Lake

Burt Lake is the third-largest inland lake in Michigan at over 17,000 acres, located in Cheboygan County in the heart of the Inland Waterway. This historic chain of lakes and rivers connects Burt Lake to Mullett Lake, Crooked Lake, and Pickerel Lake, creating a 38-mile navigable waterway that is one of Michigan's most unique boating experiences. The lake's clear water and diverse structure support excellent fishing for multiple species.

Walleye fishing on Burt Lake is consistently productive, with spring and fall offering the best action around rocky reefs and river mouths. Northern pike grow to impressive sizes in the lake's weed beds, while smallmouth bass provide exciting light-tackle fishing along the shoreline. The Sturgeon River enters the lake from the west, and the Indian River connects it to Mullett Lake to the east, both adding fishing variety.

Burt Lake State Park on the southern shore provides a well-maintained boat launch, swimming beach, and campground.
