Canyon Lake is the smallest and arguably most scenic of the Salt River chain lakes east of Phoenix, accessed via the winding Apache Trail. The narrow lake sits in a dramatic canyon with sheer cliff walls rising hundreds of feet.

Winter trout stocking makes Canyon Lake one of the best put-and-take trout fisheries in the Phoenix area. Bass fishing is productive along the rocky walls and submerged timber. The single boat ramp can get crowded on weekends, but the intimate canyon setting rewards those who venture out.
